Chinon Group was established in 1948 in Japan by founder Mr. Hiroshi Chino as a manufacturing and marketing company for optical products such as lens modules, 35mm cameras, movie cameras, disc drives, and printers. Long-time partner Eastman Kodak Company became Chinon Industries Inc.'s majority shareholder in 1997, and later merged Chinon Industries Inc. into the group. Chinon Corporation was restarted by the founder's family as the formal successor.

COMPANY MISSION

The world is changing all around us. To continue to thrive as a business over the next ten years and beyond, Chinon must look ahead, understand the trends and forces that will shape the technology landscape and move swiftly to prepare for what's to come. The Chinon mission, which is enduring, declares our purpose as a company and serves as a standard to which we judge our actions:

  • To provide technology that inspires, entertains and brings people together
  • To anticipate and satisfy people's desires and needs
  • To bring about moments of optimism and happiness
  • To create value and make a difference.

COMPANY VALUES

Our values act as a compass for our actions:

  • Quality
  • Innovation
  • Integrity
  • Leadership
  • Passion.

At Chinon, we focus 100 percent on the needs of our customers and partners — listening, observing and learning what those needs are by staying close to the market. We remain responsive to change with the courage to change course when necessary, working efficiently, optimistically and with purpose.
